Messi Agrees To 700 Million Euro Manchester City Contract - UPDATE

 

It has been reported that Lionel Messi has recently agreed to Manchester City's 700 million euro contract to join the English Premier League defending champions .

"As part of the deal with Messi is expected to spend three years in Manchester before moving to MLS side New York City FC"

Lionel Messi has agreed financial terms with Manchester City, according to the Daily Record, if the green light amounts to € 700 million (£623 million/$ 834 million) over five years. 

Barcelona's officials and club members are not happy with this decision and are calling the club owners to retain Messi at Barcelona. News about Manchester City's officials and agents seen at Barcelona was on media few days before and now it's nearly official that Messi will be joining Manchester City to play this season.

As part of the deal with Messi is expected to spend three years in Manchester before moving to MLS side New York City FC, the Argentine has also been offered an equity stake in City Football Group.

In the weeks after Barca's 8-2 Champions League loss at the hands of Bayern Munich, the Argentine forward had made it known that he wanted to depart the Camp Nou, with Manchester City reported as his most possible destination.

But the procedure was complicated by a conflict between player and club over a release clause. Messi has a clause in his deal that lets him leave at the end of the summer on a free transfer. The clause expired on June 10 but Messi still tried to trigger it, citing the season's disruption due to the coronavirus pandemic as grounds for doing so.
