Apple pips Samsung for top smartphone spot over holiday season

Apple has recently beat the Korean smartphone giant in  the last quarter of 2017 . Although the first three quarters were dominated by Samsung. But with the increased sales of iPhone8,iPhone 8Plus and iPhoneX, Apple has once again increased its sales in its fourth quarter thereby beating Samsung in its last quarter.

Apple has its nose in front of Samsung once more.

Apple is successful in its last quarter of 2017 with a record sales of 77.3 million iPhones (19.2% market share) whereas Samsung is on second with sales of 74.1 million smartphones occupying 18.4% of the total market share. Although there was news of iPhoneX lower sales as compared to other iPhones, Apple has made itpossible to keep itself as the top smartphone selling company in the last quarter of 2017.

Though sales have increased in last quarter of 2017,this is low as compared to last year i.e 2016 by dropping 1 percent for the year compared to 2016. The iPhone X, Apple's most expensive phone to date, didn't get off the mark as expected and reports pointing to Apple halving its production run for the first quarter of 2017.

Still, Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a press release that the iPhone X was "the top-selling iPhone every week since it shipped in November," and the pricier iPhone lineup scored all-time records in quarterly profit and revenue.
